Do You Really Know Your Steel Straps Suppliers?

If you are like most of the contractors, project managers and inventory control professionals then you probably have a set of go-to companies that you use on a regular basis. You most likely don’t have a second thought when placing an order, you just go to the website and key in what you need. While this may be a good option for lots of materials, do you really know the quality of product you are getting from your steel straps suppliers?

Up to Standard or Not?

One of the first things that you should check into with steel straps suppliers is their quality of product. While you may not realize it there are actually some steel straps suppliers that are certified and approved to sell to the United States Government. These suppliers have to follow specific set standards that are set by ASTM, the American Society for Testing and Materials, to ensure consistent top quality for specific job requirements.
Unless a company specifies that they are following the standards set forth by ASTM then it is safe to assume that they are not. Another quick check is to find out if the stainless steel strap supplier has been approved by the United States government as a vendor.

You may not need government standards on your job, and a top company will have different standards for you to choose from. However, it is nice to know that the stainless steel strap supply company you are working with is one of the best in the country.

In-House Production

Another consideration in steel straps suppliers is their direct connection to the production of the stainless strapping they sell. Are they just retailers and wholesalers or are they actually the manufacturers of the product?

With the last option you have the greatest assurance of top quality control since they will have a direct influence on the raw materials as well as the actual processing of the steel and the production of the strapping, seals and other parts that they sell. This level of quality is important to ensure that the strapping you need and use will be durable, withstand the elements, and provide top strapping for all types of use.
