Music has provided a platform for many talented female vocalists to express and entertain the world. Presently, the internet has provided a wide array of fans spread out across the globe and access to music has turned many bathroom vocalists into international sensations.
There are the greatest singers that we have all come to love and adore, like Whitney Houston, Anita Baker, Amy Winehouse, Aaliyah, Aretha Franklin, Celine Dion and more. Sadly, the likes of Whitney and Winehouse, have passed on but still live in our hearts through their music. There has been a rise of female vocalists in the present age that can hold a candle to the greatest musicians of all time.
Mariah Carey
Otherwise known as the Songbird, Mariah Carey has a unique voice which has been said to reach five to seven octaves. She is the hit maker to popular R&B songs like, ‘Always be my baby’, ‘touch my body’, and number one hit singles than any other female vocalists in history. She is known to have inspired a host of other singers like Rihanna, Kelly Rowland and a host of others.
Tina Turner
Tina is regarded as the queen of rock n’ roll and is in the rock n’ roll hall of fame. Starting her career in the late 20th century, Tina has sold more concert tickets than any other live performing artists. With songs popular like, ‘Proud Mary’, ‘River Deep, Mountain high’ being inducted into the Grammy music hall of fame, Tina Turner has a record 8 Grammy Awards and other prestigious awards.
Adele Adkins
This female vocalist, just known as Adele, hit the limelight in 2008 and like a duck to water; the world has been awed by her capabilities as a singer and songwriter. She is arguably one of the best female vocalists of the millennium and each album sells out within hours. Her song Skyfall which she wrote and recorded as the soundtrack for the James Bond movie which goes by the same name, won her numerous awards including an Academy Award for best soundtrack in a movie.
