Building Your Best Booth

If you’ve been dragging the same gear to trade shows for the past 10 years, it may be time to refresh and update your look. There are many new style trends, and display pieces that can help bring the traffic to your business. It helps if you think of your trade show booth as a pop-up retail location.
You know all about pop-up stores that appear seasonally in shopping areas and malls, and how they appeal to passersby with effective merchandising that is presented to catch the eye. If you think about it this way, tradeshow exhibits are no different. You have a space that can be as small as 10 feet by 10 feet or larger than 40 feet by 40 feet, and have to consider the best possible way to merchandise your business alongside an entire hall full of competitors.
- Engagement and interactivity is bigger than ever before. Even just placing tablets where passersby can tap and swipe can be a great way to bring in traffic.
- Make it relatable and relevant. It’s not just enough to follow trends, for instance if you are exhibiting at an aerospace show you will want your theme and colors not only to reflect your business but the industry that you’re in. In short, leave the Radiant Orchid pavilion to another business at another tradeshow.
- Sit down. One thing about trade shows is that everybody always has very tired feet. Walking all those rows in dress shoes on concrete is incredibly tiring. Supply a seating area either with sofas or tables and chairs – you never what kind of relationships you can build during “off time.”
Finally, keep it in proportion. Have different budgets for different shows instead of the same budget for every show where you exhibit to ensure you’re getting the most bang for your buck at every event.
